Deputies arrested a man on identity theft after they found stolen items in his car during a routine traffic stop.
On Tuesday, deputies with the Crime Impact Team were patrolling, when they saw a vehicle with expired registration on the 27800 block of Bakerton Avenue in Canyon Country, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
As deputies contacted the driver, they learned he was driving on a suspended license, according to Arriaga.
“A search of his car resulted in the recovery of checks not named to the suspect, several gift cards and drug paraphernalia,” Arriaga said.
Anthony Franks, 35, was arrested for identity theft, being in possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license, Arriaga added.
Franks was booked into the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station jail and released on citation to appear in court.
