Two people were arrested for drug possession and $100,000 in outstanding warrants in Castaic Friday after reportedly drawing the attention of Sheriff’s Deputies, officials said.
Around 4 a.m. on Friday, October 4, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were patrolling through a gas station parking lot on Castaic Road when a vehicle in the area drew their attention, according to Shirley Miller, a spokesperson with the station.
“They observed a vehicle that had its engine running and all of the windows covered with black trash bags,” Deputies also noticed the vehicle’s registration was expired,” Miller wrote in an official post on Saturday.
When deputies approached the car, they discovered narcotics paraphernalia and heroin in the vehicle, according to Miller.
One of the occupants, a 47-year-old Sylmar woman, told deputies she didn’t have money for the registration and that she was ‘a heroin addict,’ according to Miller. The woman was arrested for the possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
The other occupant of the vehicle, a 48-year-old male transient, was found to have two warrants in the system totaling $100,000. The man was arrested on the warrants and for possession of heroin.
The was transported and booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
