A Palmdale man was arrested in Canyon Country over the weekend for allegedly possessing over 500 doses of methamphetamine, officials said.
On Friday night, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were conducting patrol checks near Sand Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road near the 14 Freeway, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.
“They noticed a car parked at a gas station that had a utility trailer unsafely tied to the trunk with ropes,” Miller wrote in an official post Sunday. “Deputies pulled over to warn the driver about the vehicle code violation.”
When deputies made contact with the occupant of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man from Palmdale, they reportedly noticed both narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia “in plain view,” according to Miller.
“Deputies detained the man pending a narcotics investigation,” Miller wrote. “A large quantity of methamphetamine was found in the vehicle, approximately over 500 doses.”
The man was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. He was then transported to and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where bail was set at $30,000.
