Man Arrested In Santa Clarita After Allegedly Sending Pornography To Minor

A San Fernando Valley man was arrested in Santa Clarita last Tuesday after allegedly sending pornography to a minor, officials said.

Cruz Caldera, 25, from Mission Hills, was arrested on Tuesday, July 14, on a felony count of sending harmful manner, pornography, to an individual under the age of 18, said Lt. Richard Ruiz, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau.

The alleged crime happened on or between the dates of March 5 and April 25, according to Ruiz.

To contact the victim, Caldera reportedly used the social media app Snapchat, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Due to the case involving a minor, no information is able to be released on how or if the suspect knows the victim.

The suspect was released from jail on July 16, two days after his arrest, due to COVID-19 restrictions in the County jails, according to Ruiz.

Caldera faces one felony count each of contact with a minor for a sexual offense and distributing or showing child or youth pornography to a minor, according to Ricardo Santiago, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges on July 17 and is scheduled to return for prelim setting on Aug. 6.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
