Man Arrested On Felony Weapon Charges While Residing At Home Of Good Samaritan

A man on active parole was arrested for illegally being in possession of two firearms Friday, after an “elderly” woman allowed him to temporarily stay at her home in Santa Clarita.

On Friday, deputies responded to the 17900 block of River Circle in Canyon Country to investigate a possible suspicious circumstance, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The call stated that a woman allowed a man to stay at her house, and she no longer felt comfortable with him staying at the residence, according to Arriaga.

“Upon arrival, deputies learned an elderly female met the suspect during a walk in her neighborhood and learned he needed a place to stay while speaking with him,” Arriaga said. “The elderly female allowed the suspect to reside at her home for several days.”

The woman’s daughter became fearful for her mother’s safety and contacted law enforcement personnel, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“Deputies detained the suspect at the residence and learned he was on active parole,” Arriaga said.

A search of the room the suspect was residing in resulted in the recovery of a rifle and shotgun, Arriaga said.

Charlie Larios, 37, from Canyon Country, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, Arriaga added.

Larios was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $35,000, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
