Man Arrested On Molestation Charges After Sexually Gratifying Himself Near Female Juveniles

A man was arrested in Newhall on molestation charges after sexually gratifying himself in view of females under the age of 18, officials said.

On Wednesday, deputies responded to a call for service at a business on the 24000 block of Chestnut Street in Newhall. The call stated a male adult was staring at female juveniles, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon arrival, the deputies learned the suspect had been standing in front of the female juveniles while sexually gratifying himself,” Arriaga said in a statement. “Deputies detained the man.”

During the investigation, deputies observed the man to be under the influence of a controlled substance, according to Arriaga.

Corey Lee Canino, 46, a transient from Newhall, was arrested for annoying/molesting children under 18 years old, as well as being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Canino was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and booked on $1 million bail, according to arrest records.

The suspect was arrested again on Thursday for being under the influence and given no bail, according to booking logs.

If convicted as charged, Camino faces a fine of $5,000 and one year in county jail, according to the California Penal Code.
