A Lancaster man was arrested last week after displaying false registration tags on his vehicle.
Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, deputies were patrolling the 19300 block of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country and identified a vehicle displaying current registration tags, despite records indicating the vehicle’s registration was still expired, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“During a traffic stop, deputies learned the male driver was in possession of narcotics and a firearm,” Arriaga said.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a loaded firearm, drug paraphernalia and a baggie of methamphetamine, according to Sheriff’s officials.
Alexis Velasquez, 38, from Lancaster, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with a loaded firearm, carrying a loaded handgun not registered, misuse of vehicle registration and possession of drug paraphernalia, Arriaga added.
Velasquez was booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station and later released on bond.
