A suspect is at large after a possible carjacking in Santa Clarita Thursday evening.

At around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies received unconfirmed reports that a female’s ex-boyfriend had choked her and stolen her car in the 34000 block of Bouquet Canyon Road near Bouquet Falls in Santa Clarita, according to officials on scene.

“We’re still working the incident,” said Sgt. Aaron Jacobs with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “We’re not sure if it’s a legitimate carjacking… it sounds like a boyfriend girlfriend thing right now.”

Law enforcement officials soon found the car that had been reported as stolen, but the suspect was not inside the vehicle.

“An uninvolved bystander saw a person running but we don’t know if it’s related,” said Jacobs.

The suspect remains at large as of the publication of this article.
