Multiple Women Report Attacks At Santa Clarita Boots And Brews Festival

At least two women have filed police reports after being “randomly” attacked by a group of females at the Santa Clarita Boots and Brews Festival, officials said.

On Saturday, multiple women were reportedly attacked by a group of females during the third-annual Boots & Brews Country Music Festival at Central Park in Saugus, according to several witnesses at the scene.

The victims were not together when they were reportedly attacked, and had reportedly not interacted with their attackers prior to each altercation.

“She came up behind me and dragged me to the ground,” said one of the victims, who wanted to remain anonymous. “They were just going around looking to start trouble.”

The attackers in each incident were described as Hispanic adult women, and the victims were all reportedly blonde Caucasian women, according to officials.

“There was no confrontation prior to the attack,” said a second victim on the condition of anonymity. “All three of them just jumped on me and started kicking when I was on the ground.”

Both victims suffered injuries varying from bruises and a broken ankle to a neck injury, which has impacted one of the women’s ability to walk.

The attackers were reportedly thrown out of the concert once, but were allowed back in, according to one of the victims.

Officials with X-Treme Security, the security company hired for the event, declined to comment on the situation on Tuesday.

The officials with the event organizer, CBF Productions, are “aware of the incident, and are working with law enforcement.”

At least two reports have been filed with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station as of Tuesday afternoon.

“There were two women who came in separately and made reports of battery that allegedly occurred at the event,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station. “In both cases, the suspects were adult females. They’re being investigated by detectives.”

  1. Hmm, an alcohol-themed event, hot weather and rent a cop security. What could possibly go wrong? There should NEVER be any events like this without real officers to enforce moderation and a peaceful atmosphere.
That goes for Concerts in the Park where all the “Red Cups” are filled with alcohol during a no-alcohol policy event.

    • There were real deputies there and a SWAT team.

    • While we are at it, we should just ban all forms of fun because 2 people out of thousands acted like fools…

      • Why dont you get your story straight???? It wasnt 2 people. It was a group of girls that kept picking out other woman that just happened to be blonde and attacked them from behind. 2 of them were my friends that dont even know each other. One of my friends got beat up really bad.She did not provoke these girls and didn’t know ajay was happening till she woke up on the ground being beat up by 3 girls. She was hit from behind. This isnt a joke. Its Real!! If it was your loved one, would it be funny to you?

      • I totally agree, people don’t have common decency any more,I just read about a fist fight that broke out at a baseball game among the parents of 7yr olds, and they were sober!!!! SMH

  2. Never used to be problems like this here, but the times, they are a changin’! And not for the good! Gotta agree with Stephen on this 100%! This ain’t Mayberry no mo! ?

  3. Funny as there was a bomb threat, earlier in the week reported for that day so every where you looked every Sheriff from Santa Clarita and other Los Ángeles area Sherriffs were there on ATV, bomb squad and walking every where at Central Park and how they didn’t find someone to complain to, is beyond me.. sounds like a bunch of BS.. security was very well taken care of by actual Sherrifs oh and their dogs too..

    • Wasnt BS. One of my friends was one of the one of the females attacked. She was minding her own business and not drinking . As soon as her husband walked away they attacked her from behind. She never saw th em coming . And she is pretty beat up. She was knocked unconscious. And theres already been more police reports made and more witnesses that have come forward that saw different instances happen. So maybe you shouldn’t be so quick to call BS.

    • Let me tell what is BS. And this is verifiable, first hand information…..the sheriffs had the three suspects detained and a victim from one of the fights but released everyone without identifying anyone. The victim was obviously injured and bleeding at the time and was not offered medical aid by LASD deputies who were with her. She went into their station to explain her attack and file a report after privately seeking medical treatment and they took a felony assault report. It’s also BS that a different victim went in to their headquarters to file a misdemeanor assault report because she wasn’t too badly hurt and the deputy tried to “kiss it off” It’s a simple 242 report which takes 10 minutes to write. Yet it Took him 10 minutes just to agree to writing the report. She had to adamantly insist a report be taken in order for that to happen. It’s also BS that that same deputy refused to write down the victims description of the suspects as “female Hispanics who had a gangster or chola like appearance”… Although to be transparent, that problem was taken care of with a phone call to a watch commander, who whole heatedly agreed that deputy was in the wrong for refusing that as that description is based on the victims perception. . It’s also BS that I posted some of these same details to people who were asking on our not so excellent local papers FB post about this incident and my comments (which simply stated the above), were deleted. Yet other comments from certain individuals who referred to the victims and concert attendees as “drunk hicks”, remain in plain sight. Hmmmm….sure seems to be a feeling like some entity may be in cahoots with another entity and neither necessarily want it to get out that these attacks appear to targeted white females with blonde hair….AKA a hate crime. That’s the BS here!

      • The sheriffs here are as lazy, stupid and corrupt as they come. Getting them to do their jobs is damn near impossible, but watch them violate the vehicle code right and left; speeding parking illegally, talking on cell phones…

  4. There is so much implicit bias in this “objective” article. Shameful.

    • There is nothing implicitly biased here, you just don’t like the factual reporting on descriptions of the alleged victims and attackers. If someone is proved to be lying then we’ll find out just like Smollett, who wasn’t beat up.

      • I don’t agree that the descriptions are factual. I believe they are described through a biased lens. Words are powerful and should be used carefully.

    • by “bias”, do you mean a media outlet that actually describes what the suspects look like and what the victims look like? Cuz those descriptions are from lots of people. Witnesses and otherwise.

      • It’s possible for multiple people to have implicit bias. And I did not say bias, I said implicit bias- by which I mean “the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. These biases, which encompass both favorable and unfavorable assessments, are activated involuntarily and without an individual’s awareness or intentional control.”

  5. Next year, things gonna go different.

  6. Bottom line is Saugus doesn’t need thousands of drunks roaming residential neighborhoods after an event. I say nix any plans for future “Boots and Brews” type events.

    • Kent, I second that! These folks are very inebriated and then driving, DUI’s all over SCV. City would be wise to cancel this debacle of an idea for a festival

      • They issued 12 DUI’s to people trying to drive from what I saw on social media . Not sure how accurate that is and of course they wont put that in the paper

    • I agree Kent. The Vanilla Ice concert was the same way except no assault at the concert. They consider these events family friendly but people smoking weed , cigarettes ,fights and getting drunk off their ass doesn’t sound family friendly to me and doesn’t set the ton to what Saugus is about. If they’re going to hold these events then hold them maybe at Saugus speedway perhaps.Theres plenty of parking and your not going to disrupt the neighborhood. Central Park is mostly used by our children and on Sunday after Boots and Brews the park was trashed. I for one do not support these Drunkfest and would rather they find a venue somewhere other then our town since it appears Eventbrite cannot control their attendees within the park and outside. There was a fight down at the Shell gas station and across the street in the residential area where people were parking to avoid getting stuck in the parks parking lot.

      • Saugus Speedway is not owned by the city. They do not make any money if events are held there.

I find it very ironic that the city makes money from “family” eventsm in a “family” park where excessive drinking is just to get extra revenue. The Youth Grove in Central Park is a memorial to all teens who died in traffic accidents, a majority caused by alcohol.

        • Warren Id have to agree. I forgot that the city needs there piece of the pie. I wasn’t aware of the youth groove memorial and that me is disrespectful to hold drunkfest there

  7. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, we could place the blame where it really belongs…on the attackers and make them seriously accountable. How ’bout this novel idea?

  8. And of course, if caught, they won’t be charged with special circumstance for racial attacks because they’re Caucasian…

    • Do you mean the victims are Caucasian and therefore, the Hispanic adult women who attacked them will not be charged with hate crimes? If so, I could not agree more. It is tragic any race can do this to another simply because of the color of their skin and hair. In this case, Caucasian, blond women who did nothing to provoke the attack other than being born as a Caucasian.

  9. Odd there are no camera phone videos.

    • Odd???? Maybe because they were being attacked and their friends were trying to help them. Only people like you would think of pulling your phone out to video someone getting beat up, instead of actually helping the person that’s being attacked.

  10. I totally agree with Dave R. so many people and always theirs someone recording a fight or something unusual . No matter where you have it Central Park, Saugus Speed Way. Any where in Santa Clarita. Theirs always some one that screws up these events. May it be white, Hispanic, African American, all other cultures. It always takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch.

    • But you won’t see Asians out there fighting and shouting at people and getting drunk in public and you know why?
Because they’re at home studying to be YOUR doctors, pharmacists, nurses and so on. Education is key for us Asian people, not partying in public and making fools of ourselves. And Santa Clarita listen, you’re encouraging drunken behaviors and subsequent accidents waiting to happen. This is on YOU!

      • Not entirely true due to your wrapping all Asians into one group. Your forgetting about our Donut stores, Video Depot and Dry Cleaners. Our old neighbor owned a dry cleaners in town and they had children who turned into little A-holes that ran a muck just as much as any other young adult. I agree with your last sentence with drunk behaviors but that’s a pretty bold statement ” you won’t see Asians out there fighting and shouting at people and getting drunk in public”. So am I to walk up to the next one I see who is drunk and say ” Hey what are you doing , your better then this from what Betty Yee indicates” Their response will probably be “Betty Who?”

        • Travis, my grouping Asians into one category is the same as saying Hispanics are one ethnic group as well. Koreans, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Cambodians etc are all Asians just as people from Mexico, Spain, Central America are Hispanic. While Asians make up 5.6% of the US population, they only account for 1.5% of those in the federal prison system. And yes, there are Asians who own donut stores, dry cleaners etc. They work 12 hour days 6 days a week. I’m sirrry I left them out. But their kids all have college degrees and are doing well. Don’t know what happened to the A-holes you knew, but they are the exception. Here’s an idea…why not call the festival “Boobs and Brew” next year, which would be more apropos!

          • Actually I think you missed the point of this whole conversation that everyone is commenting on. We’d like to see this event cancelled and no longer held in our town if these are the type of things to happen . Not sure how you turned this into a race thing with percentages and degrees and occupations. Sorry to break the news to you but smart people get drunk and do stupid things. Everyone here is commenting on what took place in regards to violence. You on the other hand seemed to have turned this on everyone else who attended and acted like a model citizen. Your comments come off as if you have something against everyone who is not an Asian decent.

  11. Just my opinion but if events are going to disrupt the neighborhood while the towns integrity is at stake then perhaps these events need to be moved out of our town. Median home prices for Saugus is $585 or 600K if I’m not mistaken. Kind of the wrong area for a drunkfest that involves fights(possible hate crimes) and DUI’s.

  12. Reminder racism goes in every direction, not just white/Caucasian out. Every ethnic group has members who dislike, target, or judge other ethnicities/colors solely on their skin color. This idea that not reporting ethnicity of criminals/suspects is blatantly stupid and dangerous. Also equally dangerous is demonizing one ethnic group (Caucasians) while protecting/elevating all others due to political or social pressure. Also equally dangerous is justifying any group’s bad behavior due to past injustices – that only justifies the revenge feedback loop for any and all races. If we want a truly fair and equal society, how about having the same rules apply to everybody regardless of skin color, wealth, etc. Lets report ethnicity, gender, etc… for every crime and wake up to reality. Reality is, there are bad people in every economic and ethnic group. It matters not why they became bad – only that they are and doing bad things and their punishment/consequences should be equal to the crime. Equality under the law.

  13. I was being facetious when I suggested Boobs and Brew” for next year’s festival. I too want to see this festival cancelled; is the city this desperate for money when drunkenness is occurring and people are driving, and no less, beating on others at the venue? A very bad idea. I brought up race, since most of you on here were bringing it up before I ever did, and it seems most of you revel in the fact that the media reported the race of the perpetrators in their coverage. And the facts remain, if you don’t like them, that Asians are not committing these incidents, no matter how you slice it, if the truth hurts, so be it. And yes, smart people do get drunk, but no one I know who is even halfway intelligent gets drunk and beats on people.

  14. I hope the women who were assaulted get legal representation and sue the city for gross negligence. The city is concerned with one thing and that’s making money at the risk of its citizens. The city widely promotes an alcohol fueled festival at a public park and fails to adequately safeguard and protect the attendees of said festival. The city’s liability is certainly a contentious point, one I hope an attorney or attorneys will bring this to light in court. The city needs to seriously assess why they insist on putting profits before public safety. Shame on you

  15. My parents bought their Saugus home in 1968 for 18, 000 dollars. It was a lovely desert community back then. A much simpler time. There were plenty of drunken, drug fueled teen age parties held in the Santa Clarita canyons on the weekends. There wasn’t a whole lot for young people to do on a Friday night. I don’t remember anyone being violent or racist back then. Excuse me, it wasn’t know as Santa Clarita back then, lol. My point is…..I have no point, except, sometimes the good comes with the bad. Violent partying and racism is never acceptable in any generation. What happened?
