Newhall Domestic Violence Suspect Detained At Gunpoint

A Newhall domestic violence suspect was detained at gunpoint Thursday night by deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

At around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were called to provide medical assistance at the scene of a possible assault on Via Artina in Newhall, according to Supervisor Miguel Ornelas with the department.

“We got the call from the sheriff’s,” Ornelas said. “We did not transport anybody.”

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station had initially responded to the area after receiving reports of a possible domestic violence incident, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“When deputies got there, the suspect left the location,” Crowder said.

Initial reports indicate that deputies located the suspect one street over on Via Bocina, and proceeded to detain the suspect at gunpoint, according to officials on scene.

The exact nature of the incident was not immediately known as of Thursday night.
