Newhall Man Arrested For Child Endangerment After Driving Drunk With 11 Year-Old

A Newhall man was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly driving drunk and crashing a van with an 11 year-old inside, with officials later reporting that his blood-alcohol content (BAC) was over three times the legal limit.

At around 2 p.m. Friday deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a traffic collision near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Crossglade Avenue in Canyon Country.

“Upon arrival, deputies observed a Chevrolet van had collided into the rear of another vehicle,” said Deputy Natalie Arriaga with the station.

After making contact with the driver of the van, deputies reportedly observed “signs similar to someone under the influence of alcohol, as well as the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath and person.”

“Deputies conducted Field Sobriety Tests on the male adult and determined he was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage with a blood alcohol level of .26%,” Arriaga said.

Deputies also found that an 11-year-old boy had been sitting in the passenger seat of the van during the collision.

“The male juvenile sustained minor injury and was treated and released on scene to his mother,” Arriaga said.

The driver of the van, 37-year-old Inocencio Olmedogaona of Newhall, was arrested for child endangerment likely to produce great bodily injury, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license.

He was transported to and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Jail, where his bail was set at $105,000.

  1. INCINIO OLENOGONLA from NEWHALL is lucky it didn’t kill someone! Was the poor teachings to the 11 year old child in a seat belt??, let alone with a potential murderer driving at 3X the legal limit?!?! Great example—did they hang out with Bird Gang Gang?! Why can’t they assimilate/learn proper decent behavior?!!?

  2. He has also forever changed the lives of the 2 people in the car that he hit via his poor choice. The nightmares of screeching brakes and crushing metal. Screams from a daughter in the passenger seat with blood coming though her hands as she held on to her face. Fear of every getting back into a car as a driver or a passenger. So much for the hope and fresh start to 2021.

  3. I hope he rots. -sincerely the girl with the broken eyesocket from this same crash. Thanks for mentioning how we the victims are doing. ?

Seeing that kid sitting on the curb as scared as i was was heartbreaking.

  4. Since you guys failed to mention how the other two victims in the car that was hit are doing

Hi I am the girl that was screaming with blood running down her face and hands in the passenger seat of the vehicle that was hit I was left with a fractured eyesocket and a fractured nose that was the most terrifying experience of my life and to say this in the nicest way possible I hope that man rots
