Newhall Man Charged With Felony Battery After Punching Person In The Face

A Newhall man was arrested Monday and charged with felony battery after allegedly punching a man in the face, officials said.

On Monday around 1:40 p.m., deputies responded to the 21400 block of Grape Lily Circle in Newhall for reports of an assault, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The suspect and victim reportedly got into a verbal argument, and the suspect, in anger, allegedly started punching the victim in the face, causing the victim to fall onto the ground,” Miller said.

The victim, a male adult in his 50s, was transported to the hospital for medical treatment, Miller said.

Mark Ramos, 25, of Newhall, was arrested by responding deputies on battery with great bodily injury charges, a felony, Miller said.

Ramos was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $20,000, according to arrest records.

  1. Anyone surprised ???? If it wasn’t Newhall it would have been Canyon Country . Glad they caught the guy, another scumbag off the street .

  2. Please, as if Valencia, Stevenson Ranch and oh yeah, Saugus is crime free. How soon you forget. Wake up, crime can and does happen everywhere! The sooner we all accept that fact, the sooner we all can work to solve this problem instead of invoking the NIMBY attitude pervasive through SCV.

    • True, crime can happen anywhere, but, it happens more often in areas where there are more resistance to decent ways of life! Areas with more bad behaving people fester into other areas with decent humans! If one suppresses fact/truth then all began to suffer!! The reason decent people follow NIMBY, is we don’t want SCV to become another Garrcity!

    • Dear Star, wanting to shine bright—-The reason decent people have NIMBY, is, we don’t want our areas blighted by people behaving horribly!! Newsom/Garrcity/Bonin/etc. have ruined our cities as well as the Snowflake Liberals from Seattle to San Diego!! We all have choices, put the needle in, smoke/snort, drink in excess and one reaps what they sow—just don’t impose upon decent hard working taxpayers & ruin nice areas we’re trying to build & maintain !!

  3. That part of town is always in the news. Trashy little area, with trashy people.

    • This could and does happen everywhere john. Whether it’s a punch in the face or a stuck up comment, both of these will make the area appear trashy. I’ve lived in all areas of Santa Clarita and “awesome town” is not one of the best.

  4. This is someone who is constantly in trouble. He is in and out of jail, doing drugs, getting in trouble and he has no remorse. he will get out and will do it again

    • Ken: You’re an excuser!! You confuse (or excuse) stuck up with PRIDE because of hard, honest hard work & behavior! Crimes do happen anywhere, but, happen more often in trashy areas with more resistant sub-humans live and behave poorly! You can’t excuse the abusers, those creatures need to be locked up! Look at the once beautiful west coast from Seattle to San Diego! Thanks Liberals for Prop. 47 & 57 and AB 109—. NO on GASCON!!!

      • I stand by my statement and I would seriously think of moving to one of these “trashy areas” if I had you as a neighbor. You sir are a sub human and should be locked up. And please don’t push your politics on me. I do just fine thinking for myself

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
