Newhall Robbery Suspect Arrested After Several Tips From The Public

A Newhall robbery suspect was arrested Thursday after Sheriff’s officials released a photo on social media asking the public to identify him, officials said.

On June 27 at about 1:40 p.m., deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to Red Lantern Massage located on the 24000 block of Railroad Avenue, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.

“During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that after the suspect received a massage, he was attempting to make payment but then lifted his shirt, revealing the butt of a handgun, and robbed the business,” Miller said.

On Wednesday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials released an image of the suspect and asked the public to help locate him.

Within hours of the social media post being published, tips “started rolling in,” Miller said.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
