Deputies responded to the 22500 block of 9th Street on Monday around 11:30 p.m. regarding a trespassing call, according to Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“A male adult was found to be sleeping in the stairwell of the location,” Miller said.

When deputies approached to ask the man to leave, he allegedly became verbally and physically aggressive with deputies, Miller said.

Darquel Grey, 22, of Newhall, was arrested and charged with trespassing, a misdemeanor, and resisting a peace officer in the performance of duty, a felony.

Grey was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. Bail was set at $25,000 according to arrest logs.

  1. I wonder how they approached him?? Obviously, they need better training to de-escalate and not escalate or mistreat someone who obviously had no where to sleep and now charge a FELONY because of police ego bruising and now you successfully added another person to the homeless or soon to be unemployed and homeless rolls! Well done SCSD!!!

  2. Obviously if he was sleeping they just picked him up immediately without even thinking just to say he was a danger. Another case of Santa Clarita PD. A felony… Not

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
