No Evidence Of Crime Found After Canyon Country Containment

After deputies detained three individuals in connection with a reported burglary in Canyon Country Wednesday night, officials later found no evidence of a crime.

At around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, deputies received reports of a possible burglary on the 18000 block of Terra Verde Place in Canyon Country, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The informant reported seeing several males attempting to jump over a wall,” Miller said.

After several individuals reportedly fled from law enforcement, a containment was set up in the area, prompting a response from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Aero Bureau.

“As soon as the deputies showed up, they took off running,” Miller said.

Three individuals were initially detained in connection with the incident, but were later released, according to officials on scene.

“The individuals told deputies that they were at a friend’s house,” Miller said. “No evidence of a crime was found.”

When asked why they ran when law enforcement arrived on scene, Miller said that the three individuals told deputies that, “they were afraid of cops.”

No arrests were reported in relation to the incident as of 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
