More than half of the Santa Clarita weekend arrests made were of people who did not live in the Santa Clarita Valley or surrounding communities.

Over the weekend, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office made a total of 17 arrests, with deputies making 12 of them, according to the weekend arrest logs. 

Out of the 17 arrests, 12 of them were misdemeanors, four of which were DUIs. 

The other eight misdemeanors include charges for corporal injury on a spouse, drunk with drugs and alcohol, three for possession of a controlled substance and another three for being drunk. 

Some of the notable felony arrests made include a DUI causing injury, forgery, conspiracy to commit any crime, corporal injury on a spouse and assault with a deadly weapon. 

Twelve out of the 17 people arrested this last weekend are not residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.
