One Arrested After High-Speed Motorcycle Pursuit On 5 Freeway

One person was taken into custody Saturday morning after allegedly leading officers with the California Highway Patrol on a high-speed motorcycle pursuit on the I-5 Freeway.

At around 10:15 a.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcyclist on the southbound 5 Freeway near Highway 126.

“Initially it came back as a stop, then (the suspect) continued,” said Officer Marroquin with the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center.

This led to a “high-speed motorcycle pursuit” down the southbound 5 Freeway, according to Marroquin.

After initially losing the suspect, officers were able to relocate him after receiving a tip that motorcyclist had been spotted getting on the northbound 5 Freeway near Magic Mountain Parkway, according to officials on scene.

Officers followed the suspect up the northbound 5 Freeway past Vista Del Lago, and eventually stopped him on Highway 138 just off of the 5 Freeway, according to Marroquin.

No injuries were reported in connection with this incident. The exact cause for the initial traffic stop was not immediately available as of Saturday morning.
