One Arrested In Connection With Henry Mayo Shooting Victim

A Santa Clarita man who brought a shooting victim to the hospital last week was arrested for hiding evidence and concealing a gun in connection with the incident.

Around 4:30 p.m., Thursday, deputies responded to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital on McBean Parkway after a shooting victim was brought into the emergency room, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies arrived and learned a male adult with gunshot wounds to his torso was taken to the hospital,” Arriaga said.

Three people, including the driver of the vehicle, were detained at the scene during investigation.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s detectives discovered that the shooting occurred on the 25000 block of Hawkbryn Avenue in Newhall, according to Arriaga.

The man who drove the shooting victim to the hospital in a vehicle damaged by gunfire made an attempt to hide a gun, which the deputies later discovered, Arriaga said.

Seirus Polanco, 20, from Santa Clarita, was detained for concealing or destroying evidence as well as having a hidden handgun in a moving vehicle.

Polanco was taken into custody and then freed on bond after being booked.

The victim’s condition is stable.

As of the publication of this article, it is unclear if Polanco was responsible for the shooting.
