At around 11 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station identified a suspected stolen vehicle near The Old Road and Sedona Way, according to officials.

One woman fled in the vehicle, prompting deputies to prepare for a pursuit on the southbound I-5 Freeway before they were able to detain her at gunpoint near the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road, according to officials on scene.

“What we do is like a pre-pursuit. Once we light them up with the red lights, if they pull over we call off the preparations,” said Robert Hahnlein of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Northbound traffic at the intersection was temporarily blocked as deputies took the woman into custody, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs.
