A reported Santa Clarita shooting has prompted a response from medical personnel Tuesday.

UPDATE: (6:30 p.m.): Deputies have detained a suspect, however can not confirm if a shooting occurred and are still investigating, according to Sgt. Bengtson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, first responders received reports of a possible shooting in the 18800 of Darter Drive in Santa Clarita, according to officials.
“We got the call from Sheriff’s to stage,” said Cherryl Sims, a dispatch supervisor for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

After deputies arrived on scene, they recovered a BB gun, and there was no evidence of a shooting, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Shots fired were reported when the call was generated, but deputies were unable to locate any evidence indicating shots were fired,” Arriaga said.

The suspect, Giovanni Sorchini was arrested and charged on domestic violence, child endangerment and criminal threats, all felonies, Arriaga added.

  1. Welcome to AwesomeTown

  2. Try to maintain some perspective here. In the last 28 days there were 18 rapes in the San Fernando Valley alone. There was one in the SCV. In that same period the SFV had 5 murders while we had none. They had 585 cars stolen, we had 39. They had 116 armed robberies; we had 7.

Don’t tell me this place is a shithole when I drive into an actual shithole every day. Our Sheriff’s Deputies do a stupendous job keeping this town nice and I really appreciate them for it.

    • But in making such relative comparisons one has to account for that the San Fernando Valley has at least 5x the population of SCV

      • That’s a good point- the SFV has over 7x more people than the SCV. However, on a per capita basis they have over double the amount of crime we do.

But the real difference to me is quality of life issues stemming from much lower level crimes. Twice in Northridge I’ve seen the homeless crapping on the sidewalk. I’ve never seen that here. In the SFV there’s graffiti and trash and homeless encampments everywhere. Large areas are literally dystopian. It’s what inevitably happens when you put liberals in charge of anything, vis. San Francisco, LA, NYC, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, New Orleans, St. Louis, Portland, Seattle, etc. ad nauseum.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
