Reported Grand Theft In Progress At Home Depot Stopped By Deputies

A suspected grand theft in progress at Home Depot in Canyon Country was stopped by deputies Friday morning, officials said.

The incident was reported just before 11 a.m. Friday on the 20600 block of Golden Triangle Road in Canyon Country, according to Deputy Reynolds with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

A store employee notified law enforcement of a person matching the description of a known suspect who has allegedly stolen power tools at other Home Depot locations, according to Sheriff’s officials.

A traffic stop was conducted on Golden Triangle Road near Ruther Avenue and two suspects were taken into custody, according to Reynolds.

A possible replica firearm and numerous suspected stolen items were recovered from the suspects’ vehicle, according to Sheriff’s officials.

As of 11:50 a.m. Friday, the investigation remains ongoing, according to Sheriff’s officials.
