Rifle, Shotgun Located In Stolen Vehicle, Santa Clarita Convicted Felon Arrested

A Santa Clarita convicted felon was arrested for illegally being in possession of several weapons, ammunition and narcotics last weekend.

On Sunday, a deputy patrolling the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road in Stevenson Ranch observed a man standing alongside a vehicle missing both license plates, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During investigation, he learned the vehicle was stolen,” Arriaga said.

The deputy searched the car which resulted in the recovery of a rifle, shotgun, ammunition and narcotics, according to Arriaga.

“The deputy additionally learned the male was a previously convicted felon,” Arriaga said.

Matthew Duncan, 41, from Santa Clarita, was ultimately arrested for possession of a controlled substance while being armed with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, taking a vehicle without owner’s consent, all felonies and misdemeanor charges of being possession of a controlled substance, Arriaga added.

Duncan was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.

  1. Another good snag but will probably be or already be released again in our catch and release ‘justice reform’ world. Keep up the good work. At least they are off the streets for an hour or two.

    • Well said. Sadly, it really is an hour or two before they are released. Do you think Ann and the other unconscious on here cheer when they read that a dangerous miscreant like this is released? Do they sit back and smugly smile? Or will it take this miscreant or another one to harm them or their family before they wake up from their CNN-induced coma?

  2. This, luckily is SCV, so it’s bail was $50,000. Kudos to KHTS for saying a rifle instead of the frightening prejudiced Scary negative word “Assault Rifle”! These Career Criminals just don’t learn!!

  3. I can’t believe all of stuck up assuming whine bags!!!! About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
