Santa Clarita Child Hospitalized During Suspected Child Abuse Investigation 

A Santa Clarita child was hospitalized during a suspected child abuse investigation Thursday when deputies learned that the child had taken an unknown amount of medication. 

Around 12 p.m. Thursday, a deputy was investigating a suspected child abuse report at a residence on the 17200 block of Mitchell Drive in Canyon Country when they discovered that a child had taken an unknown amount of medication, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. 

Update On Minor

The minor is 15 years old, according to Arriaga.

No arrests are going to be made, and the minor will seek additional medical treatment.

“The juvenile is currently being transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation,” Arriaga said. “The investigation is currently ongoing.”

Further details about whether the medication was ingested while the child was left unsupervised or was purposefully fed to the juvenile has yet to be released to the public as of Thursday. 

The exact substances the child had taken as well as the current physical state of the child remains unknown.
