Santa Clarita Man Faces Five Counts Of Animal Cruelty

A Santa Clarita man was arraigned Wednesday for five felony counts of animal cruelty after a dog died from abuse, officials said.

On March 10, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives investigated an animal cruelty case, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Station.

“We take animal cruelty cases very seriously,” said Miller in a social media post Thursday.

The suspect’s dog, Simon, died at two years of age as a result of injuries inflicted, with another dog, Oliver, currently recovering from a fractured pelvis and broken femur as a result of the injuries, according to Miller.

The defendant had previously posted bail, however, the judge remanded the suspect back into custody, and set his bail at $130,000, according to Sheriff’s officials.

April is designated as National Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month to bring awareness that animal cruelty is more prevalent than you think and we can all play a part in helping prevent it. If you see signs of animal abuse, contact the Castaic Animal Care Center. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1

“These victims can’t speak for themselves,” said Miller. “We have to be their voice.”

  1. Why don’t they publish his name? They do other people arrested for crimes! What a terrible human being.

  2. Children & animals don’t have voice when being abused. WE ARE THEIR VOICES! Make laws stronger so people like this can’t have animals EVER! Just think what he could do to a child!

  3. I’m asking the same question as Bid Fred- why won’t you publish his name? We need to know who these monsters are so we can keep our families safely away from them. Why would you try to protect someone like this?

  4. What’s the point of this article if there is no name and no picture? This POS should be known in the community!!! He should be shot!

  5. Lol you animal freaks crack me up. Wheres the story anyway ? What happened to the dog how did they get hurt ? Powertrip people and money making counties

  6. Without a name or picture of the perpetrator the article is basically just “animals were abused somewhere in Santa Clarita.” Which, unfortunate as it is, is probably statistically guaranteed.
