Santa Clarita Man Killed In Beverly Crest Shooting

A Santa Clarita man has been identified as the person killed in a Beverly Crest shooting early Wednesday morning, officials said.

Deshone Lucas, 44, died at the scene of the shooting in Beverly Crest, according to a watch commander the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers responded to the 2200 block of San Ysidro Drive about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a statement from the department.

The officers arrived and were directed by witnesses into a residence where two victims had
suffered gunshot wounds.

“The LAPD learned the location is a short-term rental and there had been a party with about 25-30
people in attendance,” said a statement.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and determined one adult male victim dead at the scene, later identified as Lucas.

The second shooting victim was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition, according to police.

The victim had a possible gang dispute with another male Black, wearing dark clothing, according to investigators.

The suspect shot both victims and left the location on foot. There were no previous radio calls at this location.

This shooting occurred less than one mile from one on Aug. 4 in Beverly Hills, where one woman died and two others were injured.

Anyone with information on the Beverly Crest shooting was urged to call the LAPD West Bureau homicide office at 213-382-9470, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
