Santa Clarita Pursuit Suspect Flees To Henry Mayo Hospital After Almost Injuring Deputy

A Santa Clarita pursuit suspect is facing several felonies including assault with a deadly weapon after almost injuring a deputy, officials said.

On Tuesday around 8:50 p.m., Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station dispatchers received several calls about an erratic driver near Haskell Canyon and Caraway Lane in Saugus, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.

“A deputy found a car matching the description and (conducted) a traffic stop,” Miller said.

During the traffic stop, the deputy had reason to believe the driver may be under the influence and to conduct a field sobriety test, according to Miller.

“When he asked the driver to step out of the car, she sped off, taking the deputy with her a few feet,” Miller said.

The vehicle pursuit initiated at slow speeds before ending at the emergency room at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, according to Miller.

Deputies arrested the female, whose identity was not released as of Wednesday morning on assault with a deadly weapon, evading, reckless driving and resisting a peace officer, according to Sheriff’s officials.

There were no reported injuries to the driver or deputies involved in the pursuit, according to Miller.

  1. Could it be she was afraid for her life and headed for a safe place around other people? Probably not, if she is white.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
