Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Gang Member, Drug Offenders

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a known gang member and multiple drug offenders this week, as part of concentrated patrols in areas of higher crime activity.

The Special Assignment Team (SAT) has been conducting directed patrol in areas of Canyon Country and Newhall that have been identified by concerned residents due to crime activity and possible gang activity.

Over the course of the last few days, through their directed patrol, the SAT team arrested in Canyon Country: a 24-year-old man and admitted gang member for possession of methamphetamine; a 40-year-old man on a $140K warrant for identity theft and fraud; and a 31-year-old man for possession of methamphetamine.

In Newhall, SAT Team deputies arrested a 22-year-old man and admitted gang member on several outstanding warrants including possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics, and trespassing.

Note to Canyon Country residents: Deputies per your request, are keeping an eye on the Jakes Way area and making contact with gang members who are found to be loitering in the area. Although the ones that they made contact with the other day were not found to be currently involved in criminal activity, deputies made contact with them, and noted their encounter–just in case any incidents should occur at a later time.

To the residents that live in apartment complexes in the Soledad Canyon Road/ Sierra Highway area, we are aware that some of you reported activity of suspicious men within your complex and possible narcotics activity. The SAT team is patrolling the areas you mentioned. The other day they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle seen in the referenced area, and arrested a man who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Our SAT team and patrol deputies will continue to monitor these areas, please keep us informed about what is going in your neighborhood.
