Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests Decrease By 44 Percent Week After Memorial Day

Santa Clarita saw 17 arrests this weekend compared to 36 made last weekend, which happened to be Memorial Day weekend.

Between Friday, June 4 and Sunday, June 6, 17 arrests were made in Santa Clarita, marking a 44 percent decrease in arrests compared to last weekend.

Of the 17 arrests made this weekend in Santa Clarita, eight were on felony charges, meaning felonies made up about 47 percent of arrests, according to arrest logs.

Last weekend, felonies accounted for just under 14 percent of arrests, officials said.

Only 41 percent of arrests made were drug and alcohol related, compared to over 70 percent last weekend, according to arrest logs.

People living outside of Santa Clarita made up nearly 60 percent of the arrests. Two of the arrests made were of transients.

For the past two weeks, weekend arrest numbers have seen great increases. This weekend marks the first dip in arrest numbers since the weekend of May 14.
