Santa Clarita weekend arrests remained relatively low this weekend after a holiday spike in mid-February, according to arrest logs.
Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office made 13 arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley between Friday, March 4 and Sunday, March 6.
Of those, seven arrests, or roughly half, were related to drugs and alcohol, with five of them made for driving under the influence (DUI), according to weekend booking logs.
This is the second week in a row that the number of arrests have been fairly low, with only 11 arrests taking place between Friday, Feb. 25, and Sun. Feb 27.
Only four of the arrests made over the weekend were on felony charges. A 20-year-old woman was arrested for murder in connection with a fatal DUI crash that occurred in March 2021.
