Santa Clarita weekend arrests saw more felony charges compared to last weekend.
Between Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office made 24 arrests, a jump from last weekend’s 16, according to booking logs.
Of the notable weekend arrests, one was for willful cruelty to a child, one false imprisonment, and one for carrying a loaded, stolen firearm.
Five of the bookings were for felonies, an increase from last week’s four.
Eleven of the reported 24 bookings resulted from DUI crimes, in which each suspect was booked in lieu of $5,000 bail, and one with a $15,000 bail due to prior conviction, according to arrest records.
Other arrests that made the log included drugs, robbery, assault, violation of parole, shoplifting, and domestic violence.
Of the suspects arrested 16 currently reside in Santa Clarita, while the other eight had addresses residing outside of SCV.
