Santa Clarita Weekend Crime Round-Up: St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Results In Multiple DUI, Felony Arrests

Local law enforcement agencies made 34 arrests over the holiday weekend in Santa Clarita, including seven for DUI citations and 17 for felonies.

Of the seven DUI arrests made between Friday, March 15 and Sunday, March 17, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were responsible for four, while CHP officers were responsible for three.

The 17 felony charges issued over the weekend included terrorizing or causing fear, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, corporal injury of a spouse or cohabitant, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Spokesperson Shirley Miller clarified what the charge of terrorizing or causing fear entailed.

“Usually it means the individual threatened someone else, such as a family member or neighbor,” said Miller. “Typically the threats are serious enough that those being threatened consider the threats serious.”

Bail for the arrested felony suspects ranged from $25,000 to $185,000, while a select few were denied bail altogether.

Christopher Pollay, 36, of Newbury Park, was the suspect held at $185,000 bail after he was pulled over following a routine license plate check, which revealed the vehicle was allegedly stolen.

The traffic stop that Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies conducted then revealed Pollay and fellow vehicle occupant Michael Tupper, 31, of Santa Barbara, were allegedly “in possession of heroin and methamphetamine for sales, a dirk/dagger, billy club, a replica hand grenade, counterfeit U.S. currency, burglary tools, multiple license plates, and numerous vintage items of high value,” according to a Facebook post from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
