The incident was reported at about 11:10 a.m. Monday, near Bouquet Canyon Road and Haskell Canyon Road in Saugus, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Initial reports suggested that the suspect “lunged” at the store manager with the weapon, then proceeding to flee with several cans of beer.
A suspect was detained at gunpoint by deputies in the wash nearby Saugus High School, just south of the Albertsons where the crime occurred, according to Sheriff’s officials.
That suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Brandon Daumont, was later arrested and taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where he was booked on $65,000 bail.
