Second Valencia Robbery Suspect In Custody After Fleeing From Deputies

Deputies arrested a second Valencia robbery suspect who was the outstanding person in Tuesday’s Canyon Country containment, officials said.

On Thursday, COBRA detectives with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station located Nicolas Garcia who was a second suspect wanted in a Valencia robbery that took place in August, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.

On Aug. 20, Garcia and his accomplice, who is a juvenile, allegedly kicked and punched a person on a bridge near the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall, and stole their watch, Miller said.

Tuesday afternoon, deputies located the duo near Camp Plenty Road and Glasser Avenue in Canyon Country, according to officials.

The pair fled from deputies and a containment was established, Sheriff’s officials said.

The juvenile suspect was located and taken into custody on Glasser Avenue, however, Garcia was able to escape the containment, according to Miller.

The outstanding suspect was located by detectives Thursday and was taken into custody, Miller said.

Garcia, 18, of Castaic, was arrested and charged with felony robbery, according to officials.

The name of Garcia’s accomplice is not being released due to the suspect being a minor, Miller said.

Garcia was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $100,000, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
