Sexual Assault Suspect Faces Six Felonies After Having Unlawful Intercourse With Minor In Santa Clarita

A Santa Clarita resident was arrested Friday, and facing six felony charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl who he met on the Internet last year.

In December 2020, detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victim’s Bureau began investigating the circumstances regarding the sexual assault of a 14-year-old female at a residence located in the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country, said Sgt. Brian Hudson, with the Bureau.

“The suspect began communicating with the victim in September 2020, initially in a teen chat room on the Internet,” Hudson said.

The suspect reportedly began utilizing a messaging application on his cell phone to communicate with her, according to Sheriff’s officials.
“On Oct. 1, 2020, the suspect picked up the victim from her residence in San Bernardino County and drove her back to his residence in Santa Clarita,” Hudson said.

Once at his residence, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the victim.

“He then drove the victim back to her residence later that morning,” Hudson said.
Detectives identified the suspect as Kai Sommers, 33, a resident of Santa Clarita.
On April 13, the investigation was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Six felony counts were filed against the suspect including: sodomy, lewd acts with a child, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, unlawful oral copulation and communicating with a minor for the purpose of sexual contact, Hudson said.
On Friday, April 23, the Sommers was arrested by detectives and deputies from Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Sommers was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $325,000, Hudson added.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
