Six Arrested In Santa Clarita For Violating Los Angeles County Curfew

Six individuals were arrested in Santa Clarita on Monday for violating the Los Angeles County curfew that was put into place in response to “civil disturbances” across the county.

On Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles County issued a 12-hour curfew in an effort to prevent residents from violently protesting during the late evening hours, according to officials.

The curfew was put into place Sunday from 6 p.m. lasting to Monday morning at 6 a.m. with new curfews put into effect Monday and Tuesday evenings, according to County officials.

During the first two curfews, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies arrested six individuals who were not complying with the curfew, according to arrest records.

The Los Angeles County curfew was extended once again Tuesday from 6 p.m. June 2 to 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, according to the County.

Anyone found in violation of the L.A. County curfew is subject to a misdemeanor charge, punishable by a $1,000 fine, imprisonment not exceeding six months, or both, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

  1. Nice job of reporting again. How about including useful information like who was arrested, details like what were they doing when arrested and where were they could be of importance to nearby residents. News headlines without content are not providing a service to the community

    • Just more “middle school” quality reporting! The worst factual reporting is by Michael Brown & David Melanarick! This picture doesn’t even show the subject, cut off half way!! Thanks pseudo photographer Austin Dave—-

  2. Good… break the curfew, face the consequence. Who do you think you are breaking curfew? This curfew is for our protection & people think they’re above THAT? The only way people will listen, is through punishment. Simple.

    • I agree with Carl in that it would be very useful for us to know where the person was when he was arrested, what he was doing, and what time of day it was. Personally I don’t care to know his name.

Next, rather than protest, even peaceful ones, it is much better to write a letter to the appropriate authorities. If enough people did that and it was in writing the point would be made far better than with a protest. To me a protest is not much different than a picket line which I don’t believe in either.

All of that said, I do not like this curfew one bit. I despise it when good people are punished for the actions of bad people under any circumstance! I also do not think it is fair to comment with “who do you think you are breaking curfew”! frankly I might well have been in Santa Barbara for the day on Sunday. As it was I found out about the curfew from an annoying noise on my phone at 5:15 p.m., just 45 minutes before the unreasonably early hour curfew was to take place. First, had I been in Santa Barbara during the day I wouldn’t have gotten home until about 9 p.m. Sunday night in Castaic and I wouldn’t have known anything about the curfew. Second, setting a curfew to start at 6 p.m. let alone earlier is damn ridiculous. It does not even get dark until nearly 8 p.m. these days. There’s no need to have a curfew before dark and furthermore there is no need to have a curfew in the Santa Clarita Valley! This is not downtown Los Angeles or Van nuys where the real problems are occurring. And lastly, what business do the police have arresting people who are in violation of the curfew rather than just issuing a ticket to them? Ordinary peaceful people should not be considered criminals! Steve.

  3. Wow! Hard to believe in my lifetime! Honestly, if I got a ticket for breaking curfew at 6:00 pm I’d frame it! Something to show your kids, grandkids! Curfew in LA on top of a pandemic! Who would’ve thought! National Guard in the area! Hey, remember it was ME who said (right here) the National Guard would come down the streets in tanks and jeeps a couple of months ago?! Some folks here laughed at me and said that would never happen! Well, guess what?! It’s happening NOW! Gotta love these times we’re living in! ?

    • Um….you said the national guard or military would be here for covid-19 and to make us all stay in our homes during your Marshal Law rant. Blaring their horns in the streets you said…blah, blah, blah some nonsense like that along those lines.. Because of this virus?! And guess what, IT NEVER HAPPENED DUMBASS! Do you usually just make up stuff in your head and believe it as reality, even if it’s not Lisa? Their here for the looting, just like last time in 1992 for the LA riots. The National guard deployment for looting across the country happens all the time when things like this happen. Keep it real please and not fake. Making stuff up to toot your fake horn is rather embarrassing, don’t you think?

  4. Protection from what here in SCV? People speeding? SMH It’s hard to believe that I can get in trouble for walking my dogs after 6 p.m.

  5. Why does it have to be about color Alice? Imagine being INNOCENT and killed by the police.

  6. I’m so tired of hearing BLM,it should be all lives matter don’t you think.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
