Reports were received around 12:50 p.m. of a stolen vehicle from the Rodeway Inn in Castaic, with one suspect headed south on Castaic Road, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Before (deputies) had a chance to catch up with it the vehicle lost control and rolled into the westbound lanes of Soledad Canyon Road,” Miller said.

The car is said to have crashed near Flowerpark Drive, where it overturned and began smoking. The alleged vehicle thief fled on foot, according to officials on scene.

“There was a traffic collision in Canyon Country (involving) a vehicle of interest and the driver fled,” said Miller. “They have an individual detained for questioning… containment set up, person located.”

At about 1:55 p.m., the Los Angles County Fire Department received reports of an injury on Rosehaven Lane in Canyon Country, according to Franklin Lopez, spokesperson for the department.

One person was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition, according to Fire officials.
