Deputies have detained a suspect Tuesday morning who was reportedly involved in a Santa Clarita law enforcement chase in a stolen vehicle Monday evening, officials said.

Around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, deputies received reports of a suspicious vehicle in the 38000 block of Sloan Canyon Road in Castaic which matched the description of a stolen car that was in a pursuit Monday evening, said Lt. Leo Bauer with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We have one suspect detained and are ascertaining if he was the suspect in the stolen vehicle,” Bauer said. “The person we detained is refusing to identify himself.”

Around 6:30 p.m. Monday, deputies located the stolen vehicle near Carillo and Carrizo Drives in Valencia where the pursuit began, Bauer said.

“The pursuit was terminated shortly after for safety reasons due to it being in a residential area,” Bauer said.
