Two individuals were detained Friday afternoon near Costco after they were allegedly in possession of a stolen vehicle, officials said.

On Friday around noon, deputies located a stolen vehicle near Whites Canyon Road and Pleasantdale Street in Canyon Country, said Sgt. Mark Caron with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We did detain two individuals pending a stolen vehicle investigation,” Caron said.

The deputy who located the possible stolen vehicle requested backup to his location before initiating a felony traffic stop.

The deputy followed the vehicle until backup arrived; however, there was not a pursuit initiated, according to officials.

The felony traffic stop took place near a public storage facility by Costco on Via Princessa, where two individuals were taken into custody.
