On Thursday afternoon, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station confirmed that 57-year-old Christopher Ray Nard had been found.

“He is being charged with discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, and possibly animal cruelty,” said. Lt. Ignacio Somoano with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Bureau.

Nard was reported missing after a barricade situation on the night of Tuesday, July 9.

Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, deputies received reports of a person with a gun on the 19100 block of Delight Street in Canyon Country, said Sgt. Chris Voda with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Detectives are actively investigating,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station, in a previous story. “The suspect allegedly fatally shot the victim’s dog following a domestic incident. The suspect and victim are husband and wife.”

After spending over two hours outside of the home, deputies broke down their containment of the block when they determined the suspect was no longer in the home.
