Teen, Man Identified In Newhall Shooting

The two Newhall shooting victims, including a teenager, have been identified after being shot and killed Saturday in Newhall.

Cameron Stokes, 16, from Valencia and Brian Chevez, 25 from Santa Clarita were the two Newhall shooting victims who were killed, said Lt. Amy Earl, with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.

On Saturday around 11 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting on the 27000 block of Silverado Street in Newhall, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).

When deputies arrived, they located Stokes and Chevez suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper torso, next to a pool which was enclosed by a wrought-iron fence, according to LASD officials.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the Newhall shooting victims deceased at the scene.

Deputies located a car near Via Princessa and Sierra Highway matching the suspects’ vehicle description.

A felony traffic stop was conducted, and two suspects were taken into custody.

As of the publication of this article, LASD officials have not released the names of the two suspects.

The Newhall shooting remains under active investigation and is believed to have been gang related, according to officials.

  1. Thanks to the Sheriffs for nabbing the perps but sadly, this activity is sanctioned by DA George Gascon as you will see by the lack of prosecution of said perps. We had a chance to reverse his pro-criminal policy but they fought the recall results on technicalities. There should have been 10 million signatures for a recall. Even SF recalled their same school of thought DA. When you have people like this as DA, this activity continues to ramp up because it is a safe haven for them. Where is the outrage?

  2. Not a teen MAN—-a MALE who cares nothing about others & his life, not to mention the families! Disgusting primitive creatures! Good ole Newhall!p

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
