Teenager Tackled By Adult Stranger In Valencia, Possible Suspect Identified

Deputies  have identified a possible suspect who allegedly tackled a young teenager and put him in a headlock in Valencia Tuesday afternoon, but no arrest have been made yet.

Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, a call for service was received regarding a teenager being tackled by an adult near the Havana Savannah coffee shop on the 24000 block of Copperhill Drive in Valencia, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station

“At this time, the male has been identified, however detectives will ensure a thorough investigation is completed before any arrests are executed,” Arriaga said in an update Thursday.

In a video posted to social media, the man was seen putting a young teenager into a headlock.

Witnesses at the scene reported that just before the altercation, the man was seen exiting the nearby Circle K, verbally engaging several young teens in the area in an aggressive manner.

The suspect left in a silver Tacoma prior to deputy arrival, according to Arriaga.

“Deputies arrived on scene and conducted an investigation,” Arriaga said. “No arrest has been made yet.”

The investigation remains ongoing.

“We are disappointed and saddened that this happened and even more disappointed that our child’s attention has been taken off of the beginning of a new, important school year,” the teenager’s parents said. “We are very confident that the Santa Clarita Sheriffs Department will look into all aspects of this and see to it that the proper steps are taken to ensure that our kids can exist safely in our community. We are hopeful that we all can return to normal as soon as possible. We appreciate all of your well-wishes as well as privacy as our family deals with this difficult time.”

Anyone with information about the teenager’s attacker is encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station at 661-260-4000.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to L.A. Crime Stoppers or by calling 800-222-TIPS (8477).

  1. What a moron.

  2. What’s the WHOLE story? Not saying anyone deserves to be tackled, but was the teenager doing something they shouldn’t? Were they being disrespectful? Maybe not, but what’s the whole story parents? or was this adult just a psycho?

    • The “suspect” left the initial verbal encounter at the Circle K. Was he being harassed by the young teens? He went to the coffee shop and the teens followed after him. Was he just defending himself?

  3. The News Blotter of Santa Clarita is starting to read like Lancaster’s…..

  4. I would also be interested in hearing the whole story. Who said what to whom and who really started the altercation? Just because it was a teen, doesn’t mean he is innocent in this.

  5. And the parents will defend the brat! No, the guy should never have touched the teen, but these brats are always mouthing off. Guess they get it from their parents.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
