Teenager Tackled By Adult Stranger In Valencia, Suspect At-Large

Deputies are searching for a man who allegedly tackled a young teenager and put him in a headlock in Valencia Tuesday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, a call for service was received regarding a teenager being tackled by an adult near the Havana Savannah coffee shop on Copperhill Drive in Valencia, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“A male white adult, approximately 50 years old, engaged in a physical altercation with a male juvenile on the 24000 block of Copperhill Drive in Valencia,” Arriaga said.

In a video posted to social media, the man was seen putting a young teenager into a headlock.

Witnesses at the scene reported that just before the altercation, the man was seen exiting the nearby Circle K, verbally engaging several young teens in the area in an aggressive manner.

The suspect left in a silver Tacoma prior to deputy arrival, according to Arriaga.

“Deputies arrived on scene and conducted an investigation,” Arriaga said. “No arrest has been made yet.”

The investigation remains ongoing.

“We are disappointed and saddened that this happened and even more disappointed that our child’s attention has been taken off of the beginning of a new, important school year,” the teenager’s parents said. “We are very confident that the Santa Clarita Sheriffs Department will look into all aspects of this and see to it that the proper steps are taken to ensure that our kids can exist safely in our community. We are hopeful that we all can return to normal as soon as possible. We appreciate all of your well-wishes as well as privacy as our family deals with this difficult time.”

Anyone with information about the teenager’s attacker is encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station at 661-260-4000.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to L.A. Crime Stoppers or by calling 800-222-TIPS (8477).

  1. I strongly doubt this was unprovoked. Teens can and do commit
Crime. This was after school, and the kid was most likely ask8ng for alcohol, mouthy and/or panhandling so he could by his hit. Too bad the good Samaritan didn’t knock some sense into him.

    • There is no reason for an adult to touch a minor unless in clear self defense. This guy was trying to be a tough guy and was called out by the kid. Was the kid right? Not at all, but he is an adult and should have e walked away.

Nobody asked for his help. He just thought he could make the kids go away by yelling at them. A worker at a nearby coffee shop who broke it up said the guy smelled of alcohol so he may have been under the influence of courage juice that made him lose his common sense.

Morning I have seen or read says the teen committed a crime. He may have been out of line but that is not a crime and certainly not a reason to get attacked by this guy. For Pete’s sake, he could even hold down a 13 year old! Dumb and weak! LMAO!!!

    • There is no excuse for this guy to put his hand on a minor unless he was in danger. It is clear that he was not as nothing shown or reported says that the guy was attacked or infear for himself from this team.

What happened here is a kid popped off to him and he did not like it. He made a lot of threats and the kid called him out. Does that make the kid right? Absolutely not, but you can’t go beating up minors just because you don’t like what they say.

A worker from a neighboring coffee shop said disco smelled of alcohol when he broke up the fight. It’s possible he was under the influence and not making the correct judgment. In any case, like I said before, there was no need for this to escalate to what it did. He’s gonna try to be a hero and now he is a zero.

This guy couldn’t even hold down a 13-year-old. He’s not only dumb but he’s also weak. LMAO!

  2. Nothing about the teenagers behavior and how disrespectful they are, how they steal, loot, vandalize and flat out run a muck?!?!?!? Open your eyes and report the truth, the whole truth before you ruin peoples lives!

Look on social media there are plenty of people speaking about how ruthless they are. Where are the parents? Where is the school. If we caused trouble before and after school we had to answer to our parents, the school, and even the Sheriffs.

Nowadays a child can get a sex change even if their parents are against it, but not pierce their ears without a parents consent, they can cause hell and wreck stores and our community (I.e. like the incident at Target last week where they were breaking wine bottles ) and they don’t have to accept responsibility in fact we coddle them and reward them with support. Not in our day, we’d get suspended, grounded and the wooden spoon! And I’m glad we did because we learned respect and learned to help people and be kind.

  3. if you’re gonna mention it was posted on social media provide a link.

  4. What’s the back story ??

  5. Unprovoked or not, what could he have done that would allow this man to be aggressive in this way, to physically fight with this young man, wow unacceptable!!!

    • If the kid was causing trouble or mouthy, he provoked this. No sympathy from me. Lock the kid in stocks near the high school and let the other kids tease him.

      • so if you open your mouth and I don’t like your tone or attitude I can put you on the ground

        • Anita, Yes, it’s another form of Liberal censoring! Liberals have changed words to divert blame/responsibility & attack/censor/dox those they do not like because they’re hysterical, emotionally unstable snowflakes!

          • Not even close. This has nothing to do with politics. Im a liberal and I think that kid got what he deserved. When will Americans stop with this petty liberal vs conservatives bullcrap?

  6. What was the kids behaviors? If he did something bad, maybe he’ll learn to behave in the future——

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
