Three Arrested On Catalytic Converter Theft Charges In Newhall

Three individuals were arrested Thursday morning in Newhall on a slew of offenses including the theft of catalytic converters, officials said.

On Thursday, around 3 a.m., a deputy was patrolling in Newhall when he observed a male adult who appeared to be looking under a truck with a flashlight, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Because of recent thefts of catalytic converters and other vehicle parts, the deputy decided to take a closer look,” Miller said.

As soon as the male adult saw the patrol car, he immediately hid behind the tailgate of the truck, according to Miller.

“The deputy made contact with the male adult and found out that the male adult had a $10,000 warrant out for his arrest,” Miller said.

When the deputy inquired of the male adult where his vehicle was at, the male adult said it was at a nearby gas station, according to Sheriff’s officials.

After the deputy went to the gas station to find the specified car, he found two other male adults, according to officials.

“Burglary tools and methamphetamine were found in the vehicle,” Miller said.

All three male adults from Los Angeles were arrested, and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail.

  2. We appreciate the patrols and trying to keep some level of law and order in SCV despite Sacramento’s goal of decriminalizing everything as petty. Thank you.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
