At least three people were detained in a Walmart parking lot Friday on suspicion of theft, said officials with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

“We’re detaining some people right now,” said Sgt. Waterman. “Detaining three at the moment.”

The three men are being detained for property theft, he said. Deputies are still trying to determine where the items were stolen from.

The situation is still ongoing, he said, and the number of people detained or arrested could change.

Witnesses told KHTS several deputies converged on the location with guns drawn.

Waterman confirmed a taxicab was involved in the incident, but said investigators do not know the extent of the vehicle’s involvement. 

The car will be impounded until the investigation is concluded.
