Two Arrested For Illegal Gun, Drug Possession After Routine Santa Clarita Traffic Stop

Two suspects were arrested on a slew of narcotics and weapon charges after a routine traffic stop Tuesday.

During a crime suppression operation Tuesday, deputies with the Juvenile Intervention Team (J-Team) observed a vehicle with expired registration on Connie Court in Canyon Country, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“As (deputies) contacted the driver, they learned she had an active felony warrant for her arrest,” Arriaga said.

Deputies contacted the passenger and learned he was on active probation.

“A search of his person resulted in the recovery of an unregistered firearm,” Arriaga said. “Deputies searched the vehicle and located baggies of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms and Xanax pills not prescribed to either person.”

Melissa Sanchez, 20, and Ivan Castro, both from Lancaster were ultimately arrested on several narcotics and weapons charges, Arriaga added.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station where they were booked, according to arrest records.

  1. Glad Sanchez & Castro from lovely Lancaster we’re caught before they could use the gun!

  2. It’s amazing, these people have drugs, weapons etc. contraband in their cars and they always get pulled over for some vehicle infraction, registration, brake lights, running a stop sign etc.

  3. Why do we call it probation or parole when they can carry guns and sell drugs and not get sent back to prison? These two didn’t even go to jail under Gascon’s catch ‘n’ release program.

When people can shoplift without repercussions it emboldens them to more serious crimes. This cycle repeats until these criminals start casually committing murder.

Gascon is putting on a big, dramatic show about how concerned he is about the murder of Tioni Theus. But the fact is, Gascon himself is an accessory to that murder because he undoubtedly let her killer off scot free from a long list of previous crimes.

  4. THEY come here to sell drugs, shoot people, and cause crap and then leave. They are probably originally from SCV but moved to AV cuz its cheaper . Most all crimes are from outside scum coming here to do their crimes! Its off the hook!!and left for AV but have connections here!

  5. Of course, demons go to places where humans work hard & live Decent lives & are Naive to what’s really going on in the streets, fooled by the deceitful, lying Liberal Big Media/Tech/Hollywood! The Sheeple are fooled, as evidenced by their voting patterns!! Wake up, not Woke up!!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
