A man and woman wanted for identity theft in Santa Clarita were located at a hotel in Chatsworth during a surveillance operation.

Deputies with the Crime Impact Team were conducting surveillance when they located the identity theft suspects who were identified by the public’s help at a hotel in Chatsworth, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies with the Crime Impact Team have been searching for a male and female adult responsible for an incident involving identity theft. The pair reportedly purchased approximately $500 worth of merchandise at a business in the mall utilizing a stolen credit card,” said Arriaga.

During investigation of the woman’s parked car at the location of arrest, deputies discovered a mass amount of mail and other items which were named to other parties other than the suspects, Arriaga said.

Deputies also uncovered stocks of blank checks used to create fabricated checks, Arriaga added.

“The male was also identified to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest,” said Arriaga.

Scott Remp, and Katherine Rodriguez were both booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station for identity theft and remain in custody as of Thursday morning.
