One person was released from custody late Wednesday afternoon after deputies received reports of a person wielding a knife in Canyon Country, only for the alleged victim to later recant their report.
Just after 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a man threatening someone with a knife by the bike paths on Soledad Canyon Road near Camp Plenty Road in Canyon Country.
“A civilian reported a person swinging a knife around,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.
Deputies arrived on scene and detained the suspect near Soledad Canyon Road and Penlon Way, across the Santa Clara River from the initial location.
After being taken into custody, the suspect was later released following further investigation, according to Miller.
“The victim recanted the report and it was determined that no crime had occurred,” Miller said.
