Valencia Chase Bank Robbery Suspect Returns To Court

A man arrested in connection with a Valencia Chase bank robbery appeared in federal court Friday, officials said.

Forrest Colby Rowe, 49, was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 8 by deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau (MCB), according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The bank robbery in Valencia was originally reported at about 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6 on the 24000 block of Valencia Boulevard, according to Sgt. Gooseberry with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“(The suspect) handed a teller a note stating he had a gun and to give him money,” Miller wrote in an official post Friday. “The suspect then took the money and fled.”

The suspect, initially described as a male in his 50’s wearing a hooded jacket and glasses, fled with $2,100 on foot westbound near Valencia Boulevard, according to deputies on scene.

Two days later, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, MCB detectives found the suspect, identified to be Rowe, hiding out in a motel San Bernardino, the city in which he lived.

“Rowe, a parolee, was found to be connected to four other bank robberies, in addition to Valencia, that were committed in the last two weeks in Yorba Linda, Tujunga, Fallbrook and Diamond Bar,” Miller wrote.

Between Dec. 23 and the Jan. 6 Valencia Chase robbery, Rowe allegedly stole nearly $19,000 from five different Chase banks, according to Miller.

Rowe was being housed at Walnut Sheriff’s Station, held on $2 million bail, with an FBI hold, according to officials.

A plea and trial setting hearing is set for Feb. 3, at 11 a.m., before Judge Percy Anderson, according to officials with the United States Attorney Central District of California.
