Valencia Man Arrested For Alleged Sexual Assault On Minor

A Valencia man was arrested early Sunday morning for an alleged instance of sexual assault on a minor, only to be released on a citation later that evening.

At around 4 a.m. Sunday, officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were summoned to the 24000 block of Trevino Drive in Valencia, according to Lt. Ruiz with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau.

While officials were unable to give details regarding the initial call for service due to the sensitivity of the incident, one Valencia resident was taken into custody at 5:40 a.m. for an alleged instance of forced “penetration with a foreign object.”

“The victim was not able to give consent,” Ruiz added.

The suspect, a 34-year-old Valencia resident, was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where he was booked on one felony charge under California Penal Code 289(B).

“Any person who commits an act of sexual penetration upon a child who is under 14 years of age, when the act is accomplished against the victim’s will by means of force, violence, duress, menace, or fear of immediate and unlawful bodily injury on the victim or another person, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for 8, 10, or 12 years,” the penal code reads.

No bail amount was listed for the suspect in the arrest records from over the weekend, and he was later released on a citation at 8:19 p.m. on Sunday, according to Ruiz.

The incident is being handled by the Special Victims Bureau, and is still under investigation, according to officials.
