Deputies arrested a convicted felon and wanted suspect out of the state of Washington Thursday morning after a routine traffic stop, officials said.
A pair of deputies starting their shift on Thursday conducted a traffic stop around 8 a.m. on The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch for vehicle code violations, said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Little did they realize at the time they had just located a stolen car out of Washington and a man who was a wanted felon from another state, said Miller.
The suspect had reportedly put a different license plate on the vehicle in an attempt to disguise that the car was stolen, according to officials.
However, deputies found the real license plate in the car, along with a large quantity of methamphetamine, a scale and baggies consistent with that of drug sales and ammunition, Miller said.
Deputies have been in communication with the police department in Washington sharing the news that one of their stolen cars have been located, along with a suspect they have been looking for, according to Sheriff’s officials.
“The good news for SCV is that this individual will not victimize anyone around here because he’s in jail, where he belongs,” Miller said.
Issac Alejandro, 24, from Auburn, WA, was arrested and charged on multiple felony charges including possession of a controlled substance for sale, felon in possession of ammunition and being in possession of a stolen vehicle, according to officials.
Alejandro was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $70,250, according to arrest records.
